Alfons Haider
Biography
Having trained as an actor and musical performer in Vienna and Los Angeles, he quickly made a name for himself on major Viennese stages. He then went on to enjoy success in international television series, cinema and television films, as well as presenting for ORF. He directed the Stockerau Open-Air Festival for 15 years, celebrating great successes with Broadway musicals such as La Cage aux Folles and A Chorus Line. As an entertainer, he performed in cabaret revues at venues ranging from Vienna's Theater Akzent to Carnegie Hall in New York and the Friars Club in LA.
Since 2021, he has been the general director of Burgenland Music Theatre, repositioning the Mörbisch Lake Festival from operetta to musical theatre, as well as overseeing the festival summer at Tabor Castle in Jennersdorf.
In 2025, he made an acclaimed comeback as a musical performer in the world premiere of the musical Schiverliebt on the occasion of the Ski World Championships in Saalbach, performing at the Salzburg State Theatre.
