Katharina Gorgi

Biography

Katharina Gorgi discovered her love of music at the age of five, when she started learning the violin. Born in Vienna, she entered the world of musical theatre at an early age, playing the roles of Brigitta and Louis, two of the von Trapp children, in The Sound of Music and Liesl in Ein Walzertraum at the Vienna Volksoper. After graduating from the Vienna Music High School, she studied violin performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts (MDW) from 2013 and musical theatre at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) from 2014. She graduated with honours from the latter institution in 2018. During her training, she appeared as Urleen in Footloose at Musical Sommer Amstetten, as Schweinchen Wild in Grimm! at Theater der Jugend, and in the world premiere of I Am from Austria (as part of the ensemble and as understudy for Emma Carter) at Raimund Theater. From 2018, she played Sophie in the Stage Entertainment tour production of MAMMA MIA!, and from 2019 at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. She also returned to the Raimund Theater as Emma Carter in the 'Sing-Along Show' of I AM FROM AUSTRIA, among other things. In 2022, she played Rizzo in Grease at Musical Sommer Amstetten, and in 2023 she played Soulgirl in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Raimund Theater.

During the 2021/22 season, Katharina Gorgi played the title role in Roxy und ihr Wunderteam at the Volksoper Wien. For this performance, she won the Austrian Music Theatre Prize for Best Newcomer in 2023.
Since October 2023, she has played Isabella in Rock Me Amadeus – Das Falco Musical at the Ronacher Wien.
