Laila Ghaleb
Biography
Laila Ghaleb was born in Cairo, Egypt, and was raised bilingually in Arabic and German. She attended the German School in Cairo. She received her first musical training at the Cairo Opera House and went on to pass singing and piano exams at Trinity College London and the University of West London with distinction. She also gained stage experience performing at the Egyptian Opera House and at cultural events organised by the German Embassy in Cairo.
In 2018, she won first prize in the musical theatre category at Jugend musiziert.
Her international stage experience includes Disney Mania with Fabrica in Cairo, where she appeared as the Muse in Hercules and as part of the ensemble in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She also took part in an NRJ Egypt × Fabrica project, performing in an Egyptian version of the song 'Tradition' from the musical Anatevka as one of the daughters. She was the closing act at the Arab and African Youth Platform of the World Youth Forum, which was held under the patronage of the Egyptian President.
In 2020, she received four buzzers on The Voice of Germany with her performance of 'I Could Have Danced All Night' from My Fair Lady.
She was also a singer in an EU-funded inclusion project in Lithuania, which aimed to promote artistic collaboration between European disabled musicians to create a more inclusive society through music.
Since 2024, she has been studying musical theatre at the August Everding Theatre Academy, appearing in the ensemble of MOZART! – The Musical at the Prinzregententheater in Munich.
