Christian Graf

The Lower Austrian-born actor appeared in a wide variety of roles at the Ensemble Theater am Petersplatz, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Volkstheater, Theater in der Josefstadt, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien – Ronacher and Theater der Jugend from 2004 to 2016 and again in 2025. In 2013, he was engaged by the Salzburg Festival for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, playing Flaut (Thisbe), followed by THE COMEDY OF ERRORS in 2015. In 2014, he made his debut at the Vienna Volksoper in THE WIZARD OF OZ, playing the Wicked Witch of the West. For this role, he won the Austrian Music Theatre Prize in the ‘Best Male Supporting Role’ category in 2016. From 2017 to 2022, he was a permanent member of the ensemble, playing Jigger Craigin in Carousel, the Innkeeper in Man of La Mancha, Tessie Tura in Gypsy, Luigi in Gasparone, Juno in Orpheus in the Underworld, the First Thug in Kiss Me, Kate!, the Valet in Into the Woods, Baron Rohnsdorff in Csárdásfürstin, Alter Ego in Schönberg in Hollywood, Chick Clark in Wonderful Town, Baghira in The Jungle Book, Kalebasse/Quiribibi in King Carrot, Angel Rupert in The Devil on Earth, Herman in Sweet Charity and Charley Johnson in Lady in the Dark. 

He made his debut at the Graz Opera in 2024, appearing as Smirre Fuchs in Mason/Zaufke's family musical Die wunderbare Reise des Nils Holgersson (The Wonderful Journey of Nils Holgersson). From 2000 to 2011, he performed in numerous leading roles at the Nestroy Games in Schwechat, and returned in 2022. Since 2023, he has been the artistic director of the festival. His first directing works were Eisenbahnheiraten, Das Mädchen aus der Vorstadt and Die Zauberreise in die Ritterzeit.
