Maya Hakvoort
Biography
Born in the Netherlands, she has played the role of Elisabeth over 1,000 times worldwide. She has played leading roles in numerous international productions, including Chicago, Les Misérables, Gaudí, Catharine, Blood Brothers, The Three Musketeers, Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, High Society, Kiss Me, Kate, Victor/Victoria, Rebecca, Love Never Dies, Cats, Next to Normal, Don Camillo and Peppone, Anatevka, Into the Woods, Cabaret, Sunset Boulevard, Lady M. and Wicked.
Since 2004, she has produced various musicals and concerts with her company, MHMP, including the two successful programmes Unplugged: The Soundtrack of My Life and Honouring Barbra Streisand, as well as her enthusiastically received solo tour in China.
The highlights of her numerous awards include the Grand Decoration of Honour for Services to the Province of Lower Austria, the Golden Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria, and the Magnolia Stage Performance Award in Shanghai — the first European to receive it.
