Natalia Ushakova

Natalia Ushakova began her vocal studies at the St. Petersburg University of Music, going on to take masterclasses at the Munich University of Music and the Accademia di Perfezionamento at La Scala in Milan. She won first prize in two of Italy's most prestigious singing competitions: the Concorso Internazionale Riccardo Zandonai and the Concorso delle voci verdiane. Subsequently, she performed the roles of Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata and Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Her debut roles included performances in Puccini's Tosca, Madama Butterfly and La Rondine; Verdi's Il Trovatore, Otello, Aida, Un ballo in maschera and Simon Boccanegra; Janáček's Jenufa; Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades; Dvořák's Rusalka; Strauss' Salome; Wagner's Lohengrin; and Bellini's Norma. She has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Hamburg State Opera, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tokyo Opera, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Opéra de Nice, the Megaron in Athens, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Musikverein in Vienna and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. Ms Ushakova has released a solo album and a double album with Universal Music. 
In addition, there are complete recordings of Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa, conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich at La Scala in Milan; Strauss's The Gypsy Baron, conducted by Armin Jordan; Prokofiev's Semen Kotko, conducted by Valery Gergiev; Lehár's Giuditta, conducted by Rudolf Bibl; and Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's I gioielli della Madonna, a world premiere recording, conducted by Friedrich Haider.
In 2025, Natalia Ushakova will make her Austrian debut as Floria Tosca in Puccini's Tosca, in Michael Lakner's acclaimed production at the Baden Theatre. Thanks to her wonderful voice, musicality, and moving stage performances, she is one of the most radiant personalities in the music world.
