Description

Matilda is a very special girl who is different from other children her age: she loves books and has the special gift of telekinesis - that is, she can move objects using only the power of her mind!

The musical tells the story of this girl who, with her vivid imagination and sharp mind, dares to take a stand and take control of her own destiny. She senses that sometimes you don't have to obey authority when you realize that they are wrong.

Matilda, who grows up in a world that is predominantly hostile to her, resists the arbitrariness of her mean principal Mrs. Knüppelkuh and helps her beloved teacher Miss Honig to fight her way back into her life...

MATILDA has been capturing the hearts of audiences since its premiere in London's West End in 2011. The musical, written by Tim Minchin and based on the children's novel of the same name by Roald Dahl, has won numerous awards, including seven Laurence Olivier Awards (London) and four Tony Awards (on Broadway in New York). In December 2022, the musical adaptation of the Netflix production of the same name became a box office hit. Bühne Baden is presenting the German-language premiere of this musical, which continues to delight audiences of all ages even after more than a decade.
